Just two weeks after declaring it needed $6 million to stay open for the fall semester and despite over $2 million in donations, Limestone University's Board of Trustees in Gaffney Tuesday night voted to discontinue its on-campus and online programs at the end of the current academic semester.
The Board said it could not continue to operate without a greater amount of funding. The university will assist current students in transferring to other colleges and universities as the school proceeds with an orderly wind-down process.
The campus operations are estimated to have a $150 million annual economic impact on Cherokee county.
