
Nearly a dozen states have been affected by a Listeria outbreak, including neighboring Georgia and North Carolina.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said 2 people are dead and dozens have fallen ill.
The Listeria outbreak is linked to queso, cheese and other dairy products made by Rizo-Lopez Foods. The company has recalled all cheeses and dairy products made in its facility. According to the CDC, 26 people in 11 states have been infected so far with cases in Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee, California, Arizona, Colorado, Texas, Florida, Nevada, Oregon, and Washington. Deaths occurred in California and Texas.
Listeria, can cause serious and even fatal infections in young children or people with weakened immune systems. The CDC urges people to not eat any recalled cheese or dairy products, and instead throw them away. For more information about Listeria, click here.
