The Low Country judge facing federal charges for possessing child sexual abuse material has been denied bond. 68 year old James Gosnell Jr. was in court Wednesday, to fight the decision to deny him bond.
His attorney argued that given that Gosnell was a Magistrate Judge in Charleston County, his safety is a concern while being held in a local jail. The judge denied the request for bond and ordered him back into protective custody.
The Department of Homeland Security says they traced payments made to a distributor of child sex material in the U.K. that had been made from Gosnell's accounts.
During a search of his home a flash drive was found containing images of children of various ages including toddlers involved in sexual acts. Another hearing has been sent for Monday and Gosnell will remain in custody until then.
