A Midlands mother is facing charges after an accidental shooting, Monday night. Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott has announced that 23 year old, Hayley Johnston has been arrested on three counts of unlawful conduct towards a child.
The Sheriff said, deputies responded to an apartment complex in Columbia, around 7:30 PM. Upon arrival, deputies found a child that had been shot in the lower body. The child was taken to a hospital and is said to be in stable condition.
Lott says the child was unsupervised and had gotten access to Johnston's gun and accidentally fired. Two other children were in the apartment, but were not injured in the incident.
