The body discovered in a Western North Carolina River last weekend is that of a man who has been missing since last year.

As we previously reported, two men were fishing the French Broad River in Buncombe County discovered a body in the water there, Sunday afternoon. The body was sent to the State Medical Examiner's Office.

The man has been identified as 42 year old, Garren Keith Gentry of Madison County. Gentry was reported missing by his family after last being seen in early December.

Officials say Gentry had been dead and his body had been in the water for some time. The Medical Examiner's Office says they are no immediate signs of foul play.
