South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster was joined by Georgia’s Governor Brian Kemp and former US Department of Energy Secretary Dan Brouillette to discuss the Southeast’s energy future Monday at an ongoing energy conference in Greenville.

The annual Southern States Energy Board’s conference began Sunday and runs through Tuesday, looking into the future growth and advancement of the energy sector in the South.

McMaster and others spoke to media ahead of Monday’s meeting, where he discussed South Carolina’s growing energy infrastructure.

“It’s delightful for South Carolina to host this very fine organization. This is the 63rd year of the Southern States Energy Board,” McMaster said. “All the states represented are growing. We want to be sure we don’t outgrow our energy resources. We are growing with all these industries and businesses. Our population is growing. So we have to stay ahead of it, and that is the very reason we are here today.”

Georgia Governor Brian Kemp also spoke highly of the work South Carolina has done in improving its energy infrastructure, and former Energy Secretary Dan Brouillette discussed the potential of the still-evolving nuclear power sector.
