An immigrant has been sentenced to more than 15 years behind bars after a deadly stabbing in Western North Carolina. The Buncombe County District Attorney's Office says 38 year old, Dariel Gustavo Macuixtle,a Mexican National living in Western North Carolina has pleaded guilty to murder and other charges.
Court records show that Macuixtle fatally stabbed someone during a family fight. He pleaded guilty to 2nd degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon and sexual exploitation of a minor. The family was drinking alcohol when the fight erupted according to court records.
An examination of his phone led to the child sex crime charge. Macuixtle will serve between 16 and 21 years in the North Carolina State Prison system. Officials say he will face deportation after he serves his time.
