A Midlands man is dead after an officer involved shooting there over the weekend. Officials say, the shooting happened outside the Relapse Bar and Grill in Richland County, early Sunday morning.

Officers from the Forest Acres Police Department responded to the scene and said a vehicle was driving erratically near the bar and kept driving into the bar's parking lot. The driver reportedly refused to stop for police and was shot multiple times by a Forest Acres Police Officer.

The deceased has been identified as 32 year old, Cody Johnson of Lexington. Richland County Sheriff Lott held a joint press conference Sunday afternoon with Forest Acres Police Chief Don Robinson.

Officials say the bar sits in an unincorporated area of Richland County and is patrolled by the Sheriff's Department, Forest Acres Police and the Columbia Police Departments all patrol the area. During the press conference Sheriff Lott mentioned the bar's problematic history, saying deputies have responded there over 60 times in that last 8 months.
