
The police officer who dies after a crash in the Midlands, earlier this week has now been identified. As we previously reported, an officer from the Newberry Police Department was involved in a crash with a tractor trailer, while responding to a call.
The officer died at a local hospital, shortly after the crash, he's has been identified as Lieutenant Michael Wood. He had worked with the City of Newberry for the last 20 years.
He rose through the ranks of the departments, earning a promotion to corporal in 2006, Sergeant two years and later and Lt. in 2017.
