South Carolina saw 76 total earthquakes across the state last year, with most of them centered around the midlands.
Now, another earthquake was recording in Kershaw County this (Wednesday) morning, this shake coming in at a magnitude of 1.3.
The quake was the sixth in the state so far this year, and the 48th in Kershaw County since June of last year.
The last recorded quakes were also in the midlands, both recorded on February 17th as a 2.4 magnitude near the now-familiar town of Elgin and a 1.9 magnitude near Cayce respectively.
We spoke last year with a lowcountry geologist who offered possible reasonings behind the state's recent unusually high seismic activity. You can read that story and listen to the full interview here.
