Over three decades ago a baby's body was found in Greenville. The child's mother was in court Thursday and still has managed to avoid jail time. In 1990, a baby that later became known as Julie Valentine was found inside a carboard box near Verdae Boulevard.
Investigators gave her that name becaise the discovery was made on Valentine's Day. An autopsy indicated that the baby may have been alive for several days for being found dead. The baby's mother, Brooke Graham was tracked down through DNA and was arrested in 2018. She's also said to be the mother of a newborn baby boy that was found dead in the woods in 1989.
Graham was originally charged with murder in the Julie Valentine case, but that charged was dropped due to insufficient evidence. Graham has now pleaded guilty to charges of child neglect and desecration of human remains.
During a hearing Thursday, a judge decided Graham will not serve time. She was sentenced to five years of house arrest and five years of probation. Graham's attorney cited that she would have had serious health risks if incarcerated.
