Multiple weekend wildfires break out around the Upstate

Wildfires spread across the Upstate over the weekend. The South Carolina Forestry Commission reported fires in Spartanburg, Pickens, Union and Oconee Counties.

Crews battled a large blaze near Six Mile Mountain in Pickens County. About 20 homes were evacuated in that area, but officials say no damages were damaged. As of noon Sunday that fire was said to be about 90% contained.


. In Union County, firefighters responded to a blaze near Jonesville around 4PM, Saturday. As of three hours later, the fire was about 60 acres in size. Officials say no houses were damaged there, but cars and shed buildings were destroyed. The fire was contained by late Saturday night.

In Spartanburg County, two fires broke out over the weekend. One was near Blackstock Road and it was said to have spread across 90 acres. A smaller fire was also responded to near Landrum and was contained in less than two hours.

Despite the damages, no injuries were reported in any of the fires.
