The murder trial continues for two men charged with fatally shooting an 18 year old in Anderson, nearly three years ago. 18 year old, Imani Yasmine Clemons was shot and killed at Fairview Gardens Apartments in December of 2022. Two others were injured in the shooting.
Both Nigel Barner and Mikial Ferguson are now on trial and prosecutors say that pair fired over 20 shots from a stolen AR style type rifle. The defense claims that there were no eyewitnesses to the shooting and that shell casings found at the scene do not match the rifle.
A pair of sisters testified saying they were with the suspects the night of the shooting, they testified that Barner and Ferguson were passing around a large rifle prior to the incident. One said she drove the suspects to the complex and heard gunshots.
The other said she later drove Ferguson to a bridge where she believed he dumped the rifle. A forensic diver testified that the rifle was found in Lake Hartwell.
The trial continued Friday and closing arguments are expected on Monday.
