North Carolina's Auditor is charged with driving a state-owned vehicle to hairstyling and dental appointments.
The Wake County District Attorney says a grand jury returned the indictment accusing State Auditor Beth Wood of the private use of a public vehicle. The indictment followed an eight-month State Bureau of Investigation probe.
It stemmed from Wood's guilty plea to a misdemeanor charge in a traffic accident involving her state vehicle early this year. She says she won't seek reelection in 2024
