A Western North Carolina woman was arrested earlier this month after a child in her care tested positive for drugs.
Detectives with the McDowell County Sheriff's Office interviewed 33-year-old Brittany Danielle Wyatt of Nebo after receiving a referral from the Department of Social Services.

During the interview on June 9, 2026, Wyatt reportedly admitted she had used methamphetamine in the presence of a child in her home. Investigators say a positive drug test and further investigation determined the juvenile had been exposed to a controlled substance.
Wyatt was charged with felony exposing a child to a controlled substance and was given a $75,000 secured bond.
