New details have emerged as officials say an Upstate cold case murder has now been solved, nearly 30 years later. In 1995, 24 year old Richard Martin was found severely beaten near I-85 in Anderson County. He was taken to a hospital where he later died.

His death has remained under investigation since then. On Tuesday, Anderson County Sheriff Chad McBride held a press conference and identified Bobby McClain as the man believed to have killed Richard Martin.
The Sheriff's Office says both men were at a bar on Highway 81 and Martin's was found beaten just two miles from there. McClain died 15 years ago and was questioned multiple times over the years while he was living. The Sheriff's Office says McClain was the last person to see Richard Martin alive.
Despite that he was never charged while living. The Solicitor's Office has just recently agreed there was enough probable cause to establish McClain as a suspect.
