The Laurens County Coroner’s Office has commissioned two nationally certified Human Remains Detection K9s.
Jeffra, a German Shepherd, and Ellie, a Golden Retriever, are trained to detect human remains on both land and water.

Officials say the dogs will assist with death investigations and search operations across Laurens County and nearby communities.

The program comes through a partnership with Foothills Search and Rescue and Astro Kennels — at no cost to taxpayers. Former Greenville County Coroner’s supervisor Jeff Fowler will help lead the effort.
