A Cherokee County town now has a new top cop. The Blacksburg Town Council has announced the hire of Brian Mullinax as Chief Of Police. He has been the acting Chief for the Blacksburg Police Department for the last year, he was officially appointed Tuesday night.
Mullinax is a military veteran who served in the U.S. Army for 20 years prior to his career in law enforcement. He started as a reserve officer with the Blacksburg PD back in 2003. He has also worked as a Deputy for the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office.
