A new turn of events in the ongoing power struggle at an Upstate University. As we previously reported, Bob Jones President Steve Pettit resigned citing issues with Board Chairman Dr. John Lewis.
Pettit's resignation letter gave an ultimatum that Lewis resign, that has now happened. The University issued a statement yesterday (Thursday) evening, announcing the resignation of Dr. Lewis .
Pettit commented on the resignation saying " I wish Dr. Lewis God's Best". Pettit applauded Lewis for serving at BJU for over three decades. He had cited issues with how Lewis impeded in a Title IX investigation which led up to this conflict.
The school did not comment on how exactly it will move forward, it is presumed that Petit will stay as President now that Lewis has stepped away.
