A Westminster man has been sentenced to over a decade behind bars for drug trafficking after he led deputies on a high speed chase. Court records show that David Wayne Howard entered guilty pleas on charges of trafficking meth, failure to stop for blue lights and a weapons violation.
The arrest stems from an incident in August of 2024 when Howard led Oconee County Deputies on a chase after an attempted traffic stop. He crashed the vehicle into a guard rail near Return Church Road in Seneca and fled on foot.
Over 4 ounces of meth and two handguns were inside the vehicle.
Howard was found hiding in the woods and was taken into custody. He has been sentenced to 11 years in the South Carolina Department of Corrections.
