Oconee man sentenced to over 10 years  for drug trafficking

57 year old Doyle Eugene McCall Jr.

Oconee County Detention Center

An Oconee County man who recently caused chaos while trying to avoid facing his court case for drug trafficking, has been sentenced to more than a decade in prison. As we previously reported, 57 year old Doyle Eugene McCall Jr. of Mountain Rest was taken into custody last Friday after a chase and standoff with deputies.

McCall crashed a vehicle near Walhalla and a a 6 hour standoff ensued. He eventually surrendered peacefully. That came just days before McCall's trial for meth trafficking was to start. He pleaded guilty on Tuesday on that charge, which came after McCall was found with half an ounce of meth following a 2023 traffic stop in Walhalla.

McCall has been sentenced to 12 years in the state prison system on that offense. He's still expected to face charges that stem from the chase and standoff incident last Friday.
