One person is dead after a weekend assault in Western North Carolina. The Asheville Police Department responded to reports of a violent assault on Reddick Road, around 10:45 Sunday night.
Upon arrival, officers found a man who was suffering from severe injuries. He was transported to Mission Hospital in Asheville, where he later died from his injuries. The victim has been identified as, 46 year old Jason O'Neal Edmonds.
No arrests have been announced in the case, as of the time of this report. Police also have not indicated whether a weapon was used in the assault. The incident remains under investigation by the Asheville Police Department.
