One person is dead and another is hospitalizes after a two vehicle crash in Cherokee County. The crash happened around 3:45 Tuesday afternoon on Battleground Rd near Highway 110, about 8 miles west of Gaffney.
Master Trooper Gary Miller of the South Carolina Highway Patrol says, the driver of a Mazda Station Wagon crossed the centerline and hit a Toyota pick-up head on. The driver of the truck was injured and taken to be Spartanburg Medical Center for treatment. The driver of the Mazda died at the scene.
Cherokee County Coroner Dennis Fowler has identified the man as 24 year old, Luis Rodriguez of Cowpens. Fowler says the death is the 6th traffic fatality in Cherokee County this year.
