One person is dead and another was injured after a weekend house fire in a Charlotte suburb. Firefighters responded Sunday to a house fire in the town of Stanley in Gaston County.
Officials have confirmed that one person died as a result of the fire and another was taken to a hospital. There's been no update on their condition.
Records show the house is owned by a company belonging to NASCAR driver Denny Hamlin. Firefighters arrived and found the house engulfed in flames.
Most of the house was destroyed by the time the fire was extinguished. The fire is the 2nd NASCAR related tragedy in North Carolina in the last two weeks, as driver Greg Biffle and six others died in a plane crash there earlier this month.
The cause of the blaze has not yet been determined. The identity of the deceased has not been released, as of the time of this report.
