Details released after multiple workplace deaths at GA construction site

A construction site and planned home for an automotive plant in Georgia has become synonymous with work place related deaths. OSHA has released details after multiple workers have died at the construction site of a proposed plant for Hyundai vehicles.

OSHA says the CEO for a subcontractor for Hyundai died at the site in March of this year. 45 year old, Sunbok You was killed after being hit by a forklift driver who was reportedly on the phone when the collision occurred.

Another death occurred at the site just about two months later. 27 year old, Allen Kowalski died after a metal frame fell on him at the site. In 2023, a worker identified as Victor Gamboa died after falling more than 60 feet.

Local responders say they were called for service to the site over 50 times in a 16 month period.

ICE also raided the site back in September and over 50 undocumented workers were detained. OSHA says they have opened over a dozen investigations into incidents at the site. T

hey also announced that multiple subcontracting companies at the site have been fined for regulatory violations.
