(GREENVILLE, SC) – Investigators with the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit have made two arrests in connection with the June 20th murder of Joshua Hardin.
Earlier today Investigators charged 18 year-old, Jerome Smith III and a 16 year-old juvenile for the murder. Smith III has been charged with Murder and Armed Robbery while the juvenile has been charged with Murder, Possession of a Weapon during a Violent Crime and Armed Robbery.
During the course of investigation, investigators learned that the victim had planned to meet the pair to sell stereo equipment at Welcome Park. After pulling up at the park, the victim was met by Smith III, the juvenile and at least one other person to look at the “for sale” stereo equipment. Shortly later, the juvenile pulled out a firearm and shot the victim at least one time before crashing into a pole on the property.
Smith III and the juvenile were arrested last Tuesday on unrelated charges stemming from another robbery that took place on May 31st.
The murder of Joshua Hardin is still an ongoing investigation as investigators work to identify any other parties involved and request for anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers of Greenville at 23-CRIME.
