The literacy program started by late country music icon Dolly Parton will continue to serve children around the nation and here in the Upstate, after her death. Dolly Parton's Imagination Library is a nonprofit program that provides free books to children each month until their fifth birthday to encourage early literacy.
The program has local affiliates in several Upstate counties. The initiative is set to continue serving children and families after Parton's passing. Parton had told stories about starting the program because her father was unable read or write.
