Before her passing, she had begun working with students to remodel a pond on campus — a project designed to bring students together and give them something to be proud of.

This week, students and staff dedicated the completed pond in Rackley’s memory. Her family also presented a $2,500 donation to Project Go to support student needs, continuing a mission Rackley championed throughout her service.

Pickens County Sheriff's Office Facebook Post - February 24, 2026: This morning at 1:39am our world lost a hero. After an intense month-long battle with cancer, Deputy India Rackley has went on to be with her Lord and Savior. The lives that Deputy Rackley impacted are too numerous to count. She loved hard and served hard. PCSO is and will forever be proud that she chose to serve the thin blue line alongside us. Please remember her family and loved ones in your thoughts and prayers in the coming days. May we all carry the torch she has left behind, living each moment with a mission to love and serve others.

Pickens County Sheriff's Office Facebook Post - May 20, 2026: On February 24th, 2026 PCSO lost a cherished deputy to her battle with cancer. DFC India Rackley was an impactful member of our community and passionate about making a difference in her student's lives at Project Go. At the time of her death she was in the early stages of working with the students to remodel a pond at the school, giving them something to work together on and be proud of. Since that time the students and staff have worked diligently to see that project come to fruition and yesterday the pond was dedicated to DFC Rackley's memory. In addition, the Rackley family requested donations to the school in lieu of flowers to honor DFC Rackley's memory. Yesterday the family presented a check for $2,500 to Project Go to directly support student needs. This is a mission that DFC Rackley took very seriously and in the two years she served at Project Go she supported countless students by meeting their basic needs. We would like to thank Project Go and the School District of Pickens County for joining the Rackley family and PCSO in honoring the memory of DFC Rackley and continuing her legacy.
