Primary runoffs set for Tuesday June 25th

Many of the Primary elections around the Upstate were hotly contested and will now head to a run off. All the runoffs will be held Tuesday June 25th.

In the U.S. Congressional race in District 3. Pastor Mark Burns, a Trump endorsed candidate will square off with Sheri Biggs. Burns garnered 35% of the vote and Biggs took 33% in a field that had 7 candidates on the ballot.


In the State Senate race for District 12 Lee Bright will face Roger Allen Nutt in a run off. Bright took 39% of the vote, Nutt got 23% and barely clipped Hope Blackley who had 22%. Skip Davenport took 18%.

In the Greenville County Council races two run offs will be held on June 25th. In District 20 Steve Shaw had 42% and Alex Reynolds had 34%. Those two will square off in a run off. In the District 25 Democratic Primary incumbent Ennis Fant will meet challenger Derrick Quarles in a run off. Fant got 46% of the vote in the Primary and Quarles took 34%.

In Statehouse District 9 Blake Sanders took 42% of the Primary vote and James Galyean took 39%. Sanders and Galyean will meet in a run off.

In Pickens County, the top lawman will be determined in a run off. There's no Democrat or 3rd party candidate. So, the run off between Tommy Blankenship and Chuck James will take the Sheriff's Office.
