At Monday night's Greenville City Council meeting, a point on the agenda for discussion was an ordinance to annex a small portion of Hampton Avenue. During the discussion, the fact that the SCDOT has some right of way came up. However, City Planning and Development Director Jay Graham doesn't think that would be an issue.

Graham said " History would tell you SCDOT is very willing to give up their right of way, they've got more than they can manage as it is. We've done a lot of road takeovers in the past, Augusta St. is a very important road to the transportation network."

Graham would go on to say , based on conversations he's had with the SCDOT they would likely approve the City Of Greenville taking over that area of road.

The matter would have to go before the SCDOT commission to be formally approved.
