Greenville South Carolina's Bob Jones University has been without a President since May of 2023. According to the their website, the University is searching for its' sixth President, hoping to name a new leader by the start of the 2024-2025 school year.
In a written statement obtained from BJU's Public Relations Director, Courtney Holloway Montgomery, "As of Dec. 4, 2023, the Executive Committee of the BJU Board of Trustees received nominations for 132 individuals. The next step is for the nominating committee (executive committee) to look at and discuss each individual nominated and determine how well the person matches the presidential profile. The nominating committee has held their first meeting and will continue the review process until they select a candidate to present to the full Board of Trustees for a vote. The process could last several months."
Former President, Steve Pettit, announced in March 2023 he would step down effective May 5th, citing tensions between he and then Board Chair Dr. John Lewis. One week after Pettit's announcement, Lewis resigned.
Since May of last year, Alan Benson has served as Bob Jones University's acting CEO.
