On Monday night, U.S. Congresswoman from South Carolina Nancy Mace spoke accusing four men, including her former fiancé of rape and other sexual misconduct. Mace said that she was a victim and there were other victims.

She also was critical of State Attorney General Alan Wilson, saying he failed to prosecute these men. On Tuesday afternoon, Wilson appeared on the Charlie James Show to respond.

Wilson said " We had no idea in the Attorney General's office, I had no idea that this case existed. All her criticisms were against us, but we are not the agency in charge of her case and we are not the agency responsible for the charging decision, that is law enforcement."

Wilson then went on to elaborate saying Mace's claims about him and his off are off-base. He went as far as to say the claims against him and his office are "categorically false".

Wilson said " One of the things that she said on the floor of Congress is that a victim's attorney called me and I said don't send me any evidence, I would never say that".

Mace made the comments from the floor of the U.S. House, which makes the accusations protected speech that can't be deemed libel. A Spokesperson for SLED says they opened an investigation into the claims in December of 2023 after they were contacted by the U.S. Capitol Police.
