Another Upstate weekend marred by fatal traffic accidents from the Mountains to the Piedmont, in total seven people lost their lives.
Two died and two others were injured Saturday in Greenville County -- The first victim, a pedestrian hit by a truck north of Travelers Rest, died at the scene of the accident on Rock Quarry Road shortly aftter 5:40 a.m. The HIghway Patrol is still investigating, the victim's identity withheld until relatives can be contacted.
A Greenville woman riding in a car hit head-on by another one that had crossed the centerline of Jones Mill Road near Simpsonville Saturday afternoon died shortly after reaching the hospital. She was identified as 74-year-old Janet Lynn Price. Both drivers also injured.
In Oconee County the driver of a Chevy Volt hit head-on by a Ford Expedition. Troopers say, the Expedition crossed the centerline of Highway 130, the driver of the Chevy was also pronounced dead at scene of the accident. She is identified as 57 year old Tina Kokay.
Shortly after 8:00 PM Sunday night in Anderson County, an SUV ran off of Bishops Branch Road overturned, and trapped the 80-year-old driver in the wreckage, the driver pronounced dead at the scene.
In Spartanburg County, troopers say the driver of a Nissan SUV sideswiped a Nissan sedan on Highway 101 south of Duncan yesterday afternoon and flipped several times. A passenger, 29 year old Amber Nicole Lamb of Joanna, died at the scene.
In Laurens County, an 80-year-old Clinton man died when his car veered off of Old Milton road into an embankment shortly after 1:30 PM Sunday afternoon. And in Saluda County, the 32 year old driver of a '97 Honda sedan was killed when it went out of control, hit a mailbox and culvert and also overturned on Old Chappell Ferry Road.
