Ketanji Brown-Jackson has been nominated by President Biden to fill the Supreme Court seat of retiring justice Stephen Breyer. The nomination fulfills a Biden campaign promise to nominate a black woman. Senate confirmation hearings are set to begin today (Monday) and run through this week. U.S. Senator from Missouri Josh Hawley has been the loudest critic of Brown-Jackson's nomination. He and other nay-sayers point to her track record of handing out soft penalties to those convicted of sex crimes against children. In a few cases that I researched, Brown-Jackson handed down lesser sentences than what the recommended guidelines for those crimes call for. Today's question, Should Brown-Jackson be confirmed to the U.S. Supreme Court?
