It was doubtful all along that it would be possible for the prosecution to rest its case against Alex Murdaugh by the end of the day Wednesday and it didn't. However, the accused double-murderer's defense team scored points on their claim that SLED's investigation was a rush-to-judgement.
A grilling cross-eaxmination of SLED agent David Owen extracted an admission that investigators spent months working with crime lab technicians and evidence consultants, before learning that stains on the infamous white tee-shirt Murdaugh was wearing when he met first-responders was blood, but not from humans.
Murdaugh was an avid hunter who had often tended or 'field-dressed' his quarry. Owen also conceded that no one asked what happened to the slacks and sports shirt Murdaugh wore in cell phone videos earlier in the day.
He also added, that a housekeeper and some family friends had been in and out of the home for hours the night of the shootings before it was searched, and that key areas of the crime scene were not dusted for prints.
