More details have been released after a deadly deputy involved shooting in the Upstate, last week. SLED says 51 year old, Johnny Andrew Collins of Greer was shot and killed on Cannon Road in Greenville County, last Thursday.
SLED says the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office had requested help from the Greenville County deputies to serve warrants on Collins for attempted murder and kidnapping. Deputies located Collins after he ran into the woods on Cannon Road to elude arrest.
SLED says when deputies encountered Collins he was armed with a hatchet. Collins then moved towards deputies while armed with the hatchet and deputies opened fire.
Collins was pronounced dead at the scene, no deputies were injured in the incident. More information on the shooting is expected to be released in the near future.
