An Upstate man will spend more than three decades in prison for murder. The 7th Circuit Solicitor's Office says 50 year old, Jimmy Lee Salters was found guilty on charges of murder, armed robbery, arson and weapons violations.
In August of 2023, Leroy Palmer Jr. was found dead inside his car after it had been burned in a wooded area near Woodruff. Palmer had been reported missing prior to him being found dead.
Investigators say Salters and an associate met Palmer in a parking lot in Spartanburg and shot him multiple times. The two then took Palmer's car to a secluded area and lit it on fire with him in it. Court documents say surveillance video and cell phone records helped corroborate that.
Salters has been sentenced to 35 years in prison on the murder charge. He also was given concurrent sentences on the other charges.
