
Skeletel remains from a shallow grave in Oconee County may be those of a murder victim. State Attorney General Alan Wilson believes the grim discovery is a step toward solving the mysterious disappearance of 26 year old Emmanuel Quarles seven years ago. He was last seen leaving his home in Pendleton on April 20, 2015.
Quarles was last seen with 48 year old Kerry Cobb of Seneca. Cobb's truck was found abandoned in Pickens County after he reported it stolen. Blood from Quarles was found in Cobb's truck. AG Wilson says, that Cobb led them to an area where the remains were located on the third day of searching for remains.
In 2019, Cobb was charged with the murder of Emmanuel Quarles. That trial was already slated to begin on April 24th, prior to the discovery. Wilson says they expect Cobb
The bones were unearthed late Wednesday off of Hiawassee Drive near Seneca. A forensic autopsy is scheduled for Friday, in hopes of making positive identification and determining the cause-of-death.
