Sunday alcohol sales on the ballot in one Upstate county

A referendum question on next week's ballot will ask voters in one Upstate county to decide whether it will remain among the eight in South Carolina that still outlaw Sunday alcohol sales.

Pickens County Council voted last May to put the Sunday sales decision on the ballot. The town of Pickens already allows alcohol to be sold and served on Sunday, along with Easley, Clemson, and Central. But Sunday booze is still banned everywhere else in the county.


Tuesday's ballot question will ask voters to decide whether alcohol can be sold on Sundays in supermarkets and convenience stores and served in restaurants and bars.
