One of South Carolina's most infamous criminals has been charged with violating inmate policy just weeks before her parole hearing. Susan Smith who was sentenced to life in prison for killing her children in Union County in 1994, is eligible for parole after spending 30 years in prison.

Smith is charged with communicating with a victim of witness after speaking on the phone with a documentary filmmaker from prison. Smith reportedly agreed to provide the filmmaker with contact info for friends, family and victims including her ex-husband.

The filmmaker also deposited money into Smith's account. The Department Of Corrections says Smith's actions violated policy. She has had her phone, tablet and canteen privileges revoked as a result. Smith is still eligible for parole starting next month.
