A disturbance at an Upstate business led to the suspect allegedly hitting a deputy with a blunt object. The Anderson County Sheriff's Office responded to a disturbance at the Haven Of Rest Thrift Store in Honea Path, Tuesday.
Deputies were advised that an employee identified as Phillip Stephen Patterson Jr. refused to leave after being told to by management. Deputies say when they approached Patterson, he became combative.
While trying to take him into custody, he then reportedly struck and injured a deputy with a blunt object. Officials did not disclose the exact nature of the blunt object.
Eventually Patterson was taken into custody. He's charged with resisting arrest with a deadly weapon, trespassing and simple possession of marijuana.
