Two people are injured and a suspect is in custody after a stabbing in downtown Asheville. Officers from the Asheville PD responded to a reported stabbing in the 400 block of Haywood Road just after 12 AM , Thursday.
Prior to officers arriving, the suspect had fled the scene on foot. Upon arrival officers found two victims, one had been stabbed in the neck and face seven times and was transported to Mission Hospital in Asheville for treatment. The second victim had been assaulted but was able to stay on scene and assist in the investigation.
The suspect identified as 62 year old, Larry Vernon Minish was later located nearby and was taken into custody. Minish faces charges of assault with intent to kill, assault with a deadly weapon, resisting arrest and possession of drug paraphernalia.
