Suspect charged with murder in chase that resulted in Trooper's death

A motorcycle rider is being held without bond charged with the murder of a Georgia State Trooper who died in a high-speed chase.

Trooper Jimmy Cenescar was trying to stop a speeding motorcycle when his patrol cruiser veered off of I 85 in North Atlanta and struck an embankment. That was a week ago Saturday.

The bike was since traced to a man identified as Gerson Ayala Rodriguez. He is now charged with felony murder. Cenescar had worked for the Department of Public Safety since January of last year, graduated from trooper school in September. .

In a statement on social media, Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp calls the arrest a “step toward justice for one of Georgia’s fallen heroes.
