A suspect is dead after a deputy involved shooting in the Upstate, over the weekend. The Greenville County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of a trespasser on a vacant lot on Stegall Circle off of White Horse Road in Greenville, just before 1PM Sunday.
When deputies arrived, they encountered the armed suspect, which led to a deputy involved shooting. One deputy fired on the suspect, who was injured and was taken to a local hospital, where he later died.
The Greenville County Cornoner's office has identified the deceased as 44 year old, Johnny Ray Moore Jr.
SLED is investigating the shooting, which is standard protocol. The deputy has been placed on paid leave pending the investigation. No deputies were injured in the incident.
