A suspect is in custody after reportedly fleeing a traffic stop and forcing entry into units at an Upstate apartment building. The Greenville Police Department says, officers attempted to stop a vehicle on Buncombe Road early Wednesday morning, but the driver refused to stop and sped off towards Crest Lane.
The driver later identified as, Antwain Abercrombie then ran on foot as officers approached. Police say, he then forced entry into two different apartments where small children live in an effort to avoid capture.
Officers later located Abercrombie hiding in a closet and he was taken into custody. The Police Department says that he damaged a patrol vehicle by kicking the door during the incident.
He's charged with burglary, unlawful conduct towards a child, resisting arrest, failure to stop and a weapons violation.
