A suspect is behind bars after a chase across one Upstate County. The Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office was patrolling when they saw a vehicle run a stop sign at Highway 292 near I-26.
The vehicle then sped down Chapman Road. A Deputy tried to make a traffic stop; the driver, Jeremy Gonzalez, then led deputies on a chase down Highway 292.
A spike strip was used on Rainbow Lake Road, but Gonzalez turned away from it and hit a deputy. He then drove onto I-85 Southbound. As the case approached mile marker 75, a Campobello Police car hit the suspect vehicle and ran it off the interstate.
Gonzalez then drove his vehicle into another patrol vehicle and kept driving. A Deputy then purposely collided with the suspect vehicle; the Campobello unit then came in and rammed the vehicle, pinning it in.
Gonzalez was then arrested. The chase spanned nearly 30 miles and reached speeds of 100 miles per hour. The charges against Gonzalez have not yet been released
