Two Spartanburg County Schools were placed on a secure status after two suspicious individuals were spotted by a School Resource Officer near the schools carrying what appeared to be rifle bags.
The SRO at Abner Creek Middle School called law enforcement after seeing the individuals near a wooded area behind the school.
The middle school and nearby Abner Creek Academy both had doors locked and access paused briefly while officers searched the area.
The secure status was lifted around 10AM and classes continued as usual.
