In a disturbing story out of Oconee County, a teenager is facing charges after allegedly slaughtering multiple animals. Sources close to the situation tell me that two horses and multiple goats were slaughtered in the Salem area, in recent months. At first it was thought that the killings had been done by a predatory animal.
However, later on another landowner called law enforcement after the boy reportedly killed one of his goats. The 15 year old was then arrested and was taken to the DJJ facility in Columbia. The suspect's identity has not been released due to him being a juvenile. Salem area residents that I spoke to oppose the fact the boy is being kept anonymous.
They cited the direct co-relation that past serial killers have had with killing animals prior to moving on to killing humans. A family member of one of the animal owners told me when speaking on the suspect "He doesn't need to be roaming free, it's only a matter of time before animals don't suffice his twisted urges".
