Two brothers have been arrested in connection to shooting at Haywood Mall. As we previously reported, The Greenville Police Department arrested 17-year-old Kamari Walker on June 13, the day of a shooting at Haywood Mall.
He is charged with aggravated assault and other offenses and is being tried as an adult. Two people were injured in the incident: a female bystander, who was shot in the foot, and 18-year-old Kalief Walker, Kamari Walker’s brother, who was shot in the neck and shoulder.
Kalief was released from the hospital Friday and was later arrested. He faces charges including breach of peace of a high and aggravated nature, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and possession of a stolen pistol. He was granted bail Saturday, set at $5,000 for each charge.
Police say, the shooting stemmed from a verbal dispute between two groups who knew each other, which escalated into gunfire. Investigators say they are still working to identify others involved.
The bystander is expected to recover.
