Greenville teen dead after “reckless” handling of stolen firearm

A teenager arrested in connection to the deadly shooting of another teenager in the Upstate.

The Greenville County Sheriff’s Office responded to a Parkgate Court home in Simpsonville early Monday morning following reports of a shooting with at least one person being injured.

Upon arrival, 16-year-old Malijah Jai-keem Williams was found dead at the scene from a gunshot wound.

Upon investigation, it was found a 15-year-old had been handling a stolen pistol in a “reckless manner”, which led to a shot being fired that struck and killed Williams.

The teenager is now in custody on an involuntary manslaughter and possession of a firearm by a person under 18 charges. Their identify has not been released due to them being a minor.
